Lokaal Edel, a perfect city oasis

Lokaal Edel, is one of our favourites to go with the boat. Posted in the monumental building Het Sieraad, a 1920’s school for jewellers with a curving brick façade which is a good example of Amsterdam School architectural design.

Its interior decor is hip, full of vintage furniture, cool filament lights, and lots of plants. Its high ceilings and spacious floor plant provide enough space for intimacy, even as and when its crowded. On the outside, a lovely terrace in an “L” shape provides you with both sun, and shade at your won choice.

It serves well made food. Their lunch, borrel and dinner menus  include seasonal variations that involve French and Italian options. It has a nice selection of beers as well, including a draft tap from The Butcher’s Tears.

Their staff offer a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Its one of those places that you can be all day long without even noticing, either having lunch, drinks al fresco, or dinner at dusk.

The most noteworthy thing?

Their floating dock-terrace. We love it. You can arrive to it either from the Kostverlorenvaart or the Admiraalengracht canal, tie your lines, and enjoy the sun all day long, while you sip your drink of choice.

At a glance

Captain’s delight: the entrecôte with béarnaise sauce and a Butcher’s Tears draft beer.
Best time to drop by: all day long. Its just great.
Docking facilities: Simply one of the best in town, with ample room to moor.
