Mediamatic ETEN, a mix of arts, tech, food, and science

Mediamatic Eten is the new waterfront bar and restaurant of Mediamatic Biotoop; a place where they explore the possibilities and challenges that new technology offers art, design and society.

Located in a fascinating greenhouse, it has an interesting  mixture of a art, design and life sciences. A breeze of fresh air and calmness to the area. A rather quiet space, if you consider you are meters away from the busy Hannekes Boom and close to the central station and city centre.

Their interior is fab. The glasshouse makes it a natural power charger for you to recover your lack of Vitamin D and be surrounded by a interesting vibe.

Its staff is welcoming, and although it could be faster, the yummy food compensates for it all.  They mostly provide local and plant based food; everything they prepare is without animal products unless stated. When it comes to drinks and salads, biological is the key word here. The view to the side of the Oosterdok and  the Nemo Science museum makes it the perfect spot to enjoy artesanal tonics, coca colas or beers while tasting some dips with fresh herbs from their own Aquaponics greenhouse. It is certainly a place to explore and come back for new exciting experiences.

The most noteworthy thing?

Their greenhouse setting and its interesting “alternative” feeling. A new boats magnet, in our opinion.

At a glance

Captain’s delight: the hot bread and dips with the Balti curry and an artersanal beer.
Best time to drop by: in the afternoon, to catch the sunset.
Docking facilities: Ample space for many boats. If you arrive on the right time, you can even hop into a table right from the window.
